I couldnt believe it myself so I had the chance to ask a Brazoria county sheriff and he said yes, if he saw me do even a little wheelie on a back road it would be jail time, not to mention a stand up on the freeway.

Can a poiliceman ticket you for anything you do in a parking lot? I thought the only ticket you could get on private property was criminal trespassing if the property owner disliked what you were doing.

I looked deeper. Reckless driving and DUI can be enforced on private property in many states. i couldn't find anything on Texas.

I've asked several other officers, a few from this site and all said it WAS in fact
A ticketable/jailable offense.

As long as the parking lot has access to a public roadway then you can get popped there just like you were on the street - from what I understand.

I'm pretty sure that traffic laws are not enforceable on private property, except for when exiting onto or entering from public roads.
