Neighbor is in ICU.....wrecked

Well, the guy who lives across from my moms house wrecked yesterday in Victoria.... he rides a Harley, ive never seen him with a helmet, always rides with only shades and a bandana over his mouth and nose. Well his daughter said he wrecked yesterday in Victoria while on a ride. She said the hospital told her hes not allowed to get transferred until he can breath on his own..so hes pretty messed up.... sorry to say he never listened to his daughters telling him to wear a helmet

Helmet law in Texas just makes stupid people not wear helmets.

Dress for the fall not the ride.

Is his daughter hot? I'd be more then happy to come cheer her up or help her take her mind off of the problem for a few hours.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor, thoughts go out to him.

I'm down here in Victoria and riding around yesterday must have seen about 20 Harley's around, not one of the people wearing gear.

Do you know about where he went down?

At my msf course one of the kids came riding to the second day on his bike without a helmet. The instructor motioned him to come over and when he did the instructor knocked him on the head with the clipboard and said "That wouldn't have hurt if you were wearing a helmet" ... pretty funny.

Do what I do, tell them you'll call the cops on them. It's illegal to ride in Texas without a sticker on your licences plate that NO ONE has that says NH for no helmet. you have to pay a 5 dollar tax to Texas to get the sticker per bike and you have to prove you took the MSF course OR you have to prove you have 10,000 in death and dismemberment insurance.

if you dont have all of that then it's 100% illegal in Texas to ride without a lid.

just a little heads up.

Man a lot of those Harley guys just will not wear a helmet. Because it does'nt look cool and they would probably be ridiculed for wearing it.

I wear a lot of gear even when just commuting to work and I get hassled over it sometimes by my coworkers. I tell them, "They don't make this stuff so it can sit on a shelf and look pretty, they make it to be used." And the "Just don't wreck" mentality is my all time favorite.

Prayers to the family. Hopefully if the guy pulls through and continues to ride that he will have learned his lesson.

Yep, your 100% correct. I could send off for that sticker but why bother, I don't need it.
