250cc and below track bike info

Does anyone know of some good sites for info on these bikes(prices, maintenance, riding/racing info) ?

I'm thinking of selling my street bike and only having a track bike but do not want to race in the 600 and 1000 classes.

I'd appreciate your input

thanks

You're probably talking about 125 and 250 GPs... they aren't anything like riding a normal 600 or 1000. There is VERY little margin for error as far as the powerband is concerned and they are very nimble... you'll definitely want to ride one before you even think about racing one. And that class is super competitive, you'll be spanked by 12yr olds left and right. :laughing6 That's the class that most of the future stars cut their teeth in. Also, those bikes require much more maintenance as in full engine rebuilds and the likes.

The most prominent bikes in those classes are TZ125/250, RS125/250s and the likes.

If you're not into supersport classes you might want to consider lightweight twins like the SV650. I think CMRA is talking about having a Ninja 250 class. Check out www.cmraracing.com and you'll definitely want to do a few trackdays before you make the decision regarding racing. It's VERY expensive so you'll need to be sponsored by VISA and Mastercard.

+1 on SV650, two stroke 125 and 250's are high maintenance and take awhile to learn to ride fast. If you're on a very tight budget I highly recommend checking out the TMGP.

Come out and ride Mini's and SV's next year. I am sure you will find plenty of fun to be had and the competition is tuff out there.

lol a damned 250c 2stroke isnt going to be much better lol...

In my opinion martin this is not a good idea. but you never listen to me anyways so do what you want. I think it would be way way smarter to get on a 600 or a sv or something...But hey its all you man.
