When i was over there a "few" years back. you had to take a class that is given on base for a Military drivers license that is for civilian use.
day class no problems. after the class i showed the trainer my motorcycle endorsement and he checked off mine so i had a license for both over there.
may have changed since then.
For the locals to get a license it's boocoo expensive and time consuming so you will see alot of young females driving. Daddy paying for it. It was over $1000 to get your license as a german civilian back in the 80s
here is another alternative thats sounds way cool.

hehe, i read an article... i think it was in cycle world... that spoke eloquently about this tour. I also get a discount rate if I take up Edelweiss, which would be nice if it were more than just 12%. Thanks for the info though.
