question for our LEOs does a redlight ticket pretty much count like a parking ticket on your record? My wife got one while driving my car

not a leo, but yup. a red light ticket is a civil fine, not a moving violation. they ticket the car and by proxy, the car's owner. Its like a parking ticket because they do not verify the driver of the vehicle.

So it aint a moving violation.

Yup. If you break the line while the light is red they pop you. The good thing is that the cameras dont ticket cars caught in the intersection when the light turns red. You have to enter the intersection when the light has already changed to red(at least the ones in CS).

+1 -- A picture of the car & the tag is more than enough proof of liability of the owner -- either the owner was driving or the owner allowed someone else at fault to drive.

Out of curiosity, do these cameras snap the front or rear plate?

it depends on which way you are coming through the light. In CS they only put a camera pole on one side of the intersection.

usually the cams are mounted right where u can see em, so they take the pic/video from the back

the annoying thing about newere bikes with their elephant nose tails that go upwards, its making license plates wayyyy too visible for my taste :p

im not a fan of big brother either, JV is a bunch of douchebags, i've lived there and its just a mainstreet full of speed traps on Jones

everyday i'd ride to work u'd see the bike cop sitting on private lots radaring ppl going to work

I do it too, there are a few lights in Kemah and Deer Park that won't be tripped by a bike. no they trip according to either weight or magnetic mass and most sportbikes don't have enough of either to trip them

Contrary to popular opinion, NONE of the light sensors work on weight. They're all electromagnetic. Sadly, most sportbikes are aluminum which isn't magnetic. Our cranks are steel though. I find that if I put the middle of the bike directly over a corner of the sensor, and rev it up a bit I can trip any light sensor.

Here's a trick I discovered. It works most of the time.

Put your bike in neatral (if you have a kickstand sensor), put your stand down directly on the sensor (the area that looks like a square cut in the road).

I have still had it not work at some intersections, but most of the time it will work.
