True, he very well could run those times, but only knowing him as a screen name doesn't do anything to confirm.

thats not bad at all man. Fastest laptimes i've seen is 1.45 and 1.50 is plenty fast....the instructors make these kind of laptimes. I'm pretty sure i'm around 2.10 I keep scraping my brake pedal and pegs on the carousel and keyhole turns on stock parts =/ hope to see you at the track next year Logan

No I never met him the big names out there right now are Karl Lowry, Jeff Stern, Jeremy Toye and the like. I really like racin out west, last weekend was really good for me I avg'ed 8 sec's per lap better than I did in April which i consider to be a huge improvement.

Its not the bike but the rider. All the liter bikes or the for that matter the 600's will turn fast lap times but WE and need to ride them to there fullest potential.

Is this a respectable lap time, or average for a first timer?

While lap times shouldn't be the focus of a first timer, Will, I'd expect you to be running 2 flat or lower in your first day based on riding with you. My recommendation, however, is that you not even run a lap timer nor the guys you are riding with for your first track day. The speed will come, rapidly, as you learn the lines, references points, and improve your body position. Focusing on lap times too quickly can cause riders to develop bad habits, like us liter bike guys ZOOMING down the straights and parking it in the corners. The guys on the 600's just love us for that.

I guess you're right. I'll learn the basics and go from there. I would just like to know where I'm at. I'll try and be a sponge and soak up all the good advice I get from the instructors. I cant wait until the 7th!
