whats the exact difference between the two...?

well i guess it depends on what year zx-6?

the 636 is of course more cc's then most zx6 however up until 07 they were the same bike.

personally i'd rather have a 636 because i think they look better and although not as light have a tad more hp.

04 ZX6RR NINJA (STOLEN)

Besides the 36ccs nothing they are pretty much the same bike, the rr is more track oriented.

newer has more power although its not a 636cc. having a 636 s like having a bike that will someday be a collectable and harder to find.

Not true. The July 2008 Issue of RRW listed the 2008 Kawasaki ZX-6 as 97.57 Peak HP. The lowest of the SS 600's tested. This was along with the slowest lap times of all the test riders, and the highest wet weight @ 444 lbs.

Not knocking Kawi, as I own one but I did not see this years ZX6 getting a really favorable review from RRW. On the other hand, I rode one at Laguna and enjoyed it immensely. Chances are the average street rider wont be able to tell the difference and it really wont matter much on the street anyway.

thats true, but i think it was last months sport rider magazine when they had the 600 shootout they also mentioned the fact that theres this little wire thing in the harness of the zx6 that if you plug it up you gain like 8 horse. it didnt say how to do it, but they mentioned it. im sure you can find it on a kawi board.

by the way, i can vouch for a 636. they are nice bikes and do look good. ive personally rode the 05 and i liked it for what it was.

torque would be a moot point on a 600cc I4 anyhow. If I could do it all over again I would go for an SV650 as a first sportbike. Serves well for street and track duties. When I get rid of my 636 I'll be upgrading to a sport touring bike, no more supersports for commuting for me.
