Fatal Motorcycle Accident - Houston, TX

man was arrested and accused of drunken driving after being involved in a traffic accident that killed a motorcyclist in northwest Harris County early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Jesus Catacora, 51, was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang west in the outside lane in the18800 block of FM 529 around 1:40 a.m. as Jose Deluna was riding a 1999 Kawasaki ZX7R in the inside lane of the road, authorities said.

Deluna, who was not wearing a helmet, failed to stay in his lane while doing a wheelie, authorities said.

When the Kawasaki traveled into the outside lane of traffic, Catacora's Mustang struck the rear of the Kawasaki, throwing Deluna from the motorcycle, authorities said.

Deluna, whose age wasn't available Sunday, was taken to St. Katherine's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Catacora was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated. He remains in Harris County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court today. Court records show that Catacora has been convicted at least three times in the past on DWI charges.

The case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff's Office traffic enforcement section......
