You are more susceptible to blood stream infections and Streptococcus pneumoniae infections. You will have to get the Strep pneumo vaccine now rather than when you are old (~65 years old normally). Really there is no lifestyle change needed.

to clarify: Strep pneumo is encapsulated and the macrophages in the spleen help to kill it if it's in your blood stream (which will happen if you have pneumonia - called bacteremia). The job of the spleen is to clear all blood stream infections. So you are more likely to go from asymptomatic bacteremia to sepsis without a spleen.

Her hemoglobin count was down to 8 yesterday and the doctor said if it got down to this number they would do the blood transfusion. The doctor decided not to last night and the 6am test came back at 9.9 so its going up. Her count was 11 when she was admitted Saturday. Normal for her age is 13-14.

Will keep her in my prayers. Poor girl. You know I thought about letting my daughters do trackdays. but I don't think I could handle the stress. Boys would be different I know that sexist. Oh well.

If you could please include Ashley in your prayers I will greatly appreciate it.

You can pray too. All prayer is talking to just like you are talking to us here. Not that hard.
