Fixed my bike partially, but how do i...
I fixed a fairing stay and gear shift lever yesterday morning. All I need now to be replaced is a magneto cover or generator cover as they call it in the service manual. As soon as I started unbolting the screws and pulled out the cover, oil started coming out and I closed it immediately. Is this suppose to be happening? I read on the service manual on how to take out the cover but it didn't mention anything about oil falling out of it. What would be the process of replacing this magneto cover? Besides that, It felt so good though finally being able to run the bike again, took it for a cruise around 1960 yesterday after 2 months of riding in a civic
Oh one more thing, sometimes when I am in gear (mostly 2nd or 3rd) at a decent speed of around 20-30 mph, the bike would sort of "choke" and jerk back and forth. Its not jerking back and forth extremely hard where others on the road would notice it. But I could feel it just a tad bit. What could be wrong with it? Yes, oil will come out of the stator cover. Be careful when unbolting the stator from the cover once it's off.
When reinstalling the stator to the cover use blue loctite on the allen bolts and be careful to route the wire through the hold down clip so it doesn't get pinched.
2nd or 3rd at 20 mph the motor will be lugging a little. The GSXRs surge a little down low, so that may be what you are feeling. Might also want to check the tension of the chain.
