08 Hayabusas all over the country are dynoing 190+ with only a pipe....most of which are making 195hp with a pipe and power commander with a custom map......on any of the hayabusa boards where actual members are getting 08s and dynoing them, they are all making 175-178hp SAE completely stock out of the crate with no miles on them.

Granted 175hp is not that impressive but with only a pipe making 190+ is pretty stout....Hardly a flop...

Don't believe those rag mags....they are all a joke.

On another note, Brock's 08 made 203hp with a pipe/PC/Mr9, 0w oil and has run a 8.87@157 on a 1.45 short.

I read that the 08 weighs more, and that the dyno charts are pretty close. The reason why the 08 blows by the 07 is that the tack reaches 8g's 1 sec faster. I have the new cyclist mag. Try reading the article. Don't just look at the pics

UT OH!!!

The 08 is 7lbs heavier, thats it, its all in the exhaust.....put a pipe on, drop 30lbs.

ZX14s run well but are not making 190hp with only a pipe....maybe 180-183hp with a pipe...now lets see what the 08 ZX14s make....might be a different story...

The 14s just don't seem to run the mph that the should....they et well..... Even Ricky Gadsons school bikes(07 ZX14s) are only going 150-152mph thats slammed, 6" extensions, gearing and a sidewinder...and thats with Ricky,(a pro-rider) that only weighs 150lbs.... He has several of those bikes, all running the same mph...ofcourse they are going 9.0s with 1.45 60's which is really good but.....The mph is just not that good...

I was running 150-151mph back 5 yrs ago on my busa with cams/pipe/airbox and a tune....(175hp)....no biggie. I would expect much more out of today's iron.

kinda off the subject but the zx-14 has the dumbest setup for the battery. im finding that to be true of alot of kawi's. imo, changing a battery should consist of popping the seat and there it is, done.

on alot of kawi's its like: remove 4 bolts, remove 2 body panels, remove 2 more bolts to take off the seat. THEN you can get to the battery. (not kidding there, zx-6r is like that). in the 14 its in this little smuggle box on the side of the bike, and its a pain in the . one of them, the battery is half under the seat, half under the tank! WTF! oh, and it was hidden under the ECU. hello! we should have to change the ecu, basicly never, and the battery once every couple years or so. which should we put on top? how about... not the sensitive electronics that will have a chance of getting damaged from handling everytime we need to do a basic maintenance procedure...

not that batterys have much to do with peformance, but to me its an indication of poor engineering. kawi doesnt know how to make anything small or simple. their engy's can make huge boat engines with 8 foot tall con rods, and a crankcase you can walk through a door to get into...but something small and compact, forget it. far too over-engineered.

i cant help but think the rest of the bike, most importantly the engine suffers from the same over-engineering. too many moving parts that dont need to be there. overly complex garbage...

i always preffered suzuki for this reason. it seems like if i pull off a cover, i can almost know what tools i will need next, they just put things together in a way that makes sense with no extra .

ZX12s had that stupid battery box/tray thing in the frame also....I used to get a lot of those in the shop for battery/cable problems...Stupid design....

The '08 Busa and '08 ZX-14 will be very close. The '08 Busa only has a slight edge on the '06 ZX-14 according to Brock. The '08 ZX-14 is supposed to have a little more power than the '06/'07, but not sure how much more.

Kawasaki did in 2006 what Suzuki did back in 1999. A lil too late to jump on the bandwagon and call themselves king of the hill.

It took them one year when the ZX-12R came out in 2000

The # sold does not equate to which bike is better. The Busa has a cult like following and is very popular. All of the write-ups I read stated the ZX-14 was a better bike. For '08, I think the bikes are pretty much equal.
