Introduction
New to the group but not new to riding. I'm 64. I own a 2007 Honda CB900F, which I've owned for a little less than two years. I've put a little over 7,500 miles on it since I've had it. Before then, in the mid to late '80s I put about 10,000 miles on a 1984 Honda 650 Nighthawk. So, it's been a long time between bikes. Life, and all, etc.
My skill level is proabably intermediate but looking to meet friends, learn, improve, share the love of motorcycles, riding, and working on them. I'm definitely not into stunting or squiding. I'm too old for that. While I've ridden with friends in the past, I have never been a part of a group ride, but I'm thinking that it might be a good way to make friends and learn. Rick |

Welcome! I'm a year older than you, ride a 2017 Triumph Thruxton.
Connecting with Morganator is a good idea. I've only heard positive things about his group rides. I never joined in because, from where I was living, it was over a hundred miles round trip just to where they meet up. Now I live in north Arkansas and it's even further. 😔 On the plus side, the roads here are fantastic, starting at the end of my street! Anyway, good luck! Post up some pics, get to know people, join rides, have fun. |

I'm still around. I rode with you on a Friday back in October. I'm the 64 year old that had the red 919.
To be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I was buzzing for days. But it kind of did a number on my mind to some degree. It's tough when you realize that you no longer have quite the riding skills that you had back in the 80's. Or maybe it just sucks to get old and have responsibilities for others that you have no one to back you up on. That can kind of weigh on your mind to some degree. And it also made me realize that If I were to ride as aggressively as that on any continual basis, I would need to invest in better protective gear in case I should go down. I actually did learn quite a bit from that ride and have been practicing at my own pace. I'm also getting better at coordinating my weight shift and countersteering instead of just responding with weight shift to my initial countersteering. I galloped racehorses for so long and you definitely don't countersteer them! I finally took a long look at how my suspension was set up and realized that it was set way too soft with hardly any rebound damping compared to the factory settings. I set it to factory and I'm making minor adjustments and it's definitely feeling more stable when cornering. I'm sure I'll join you all again in the future but I'll still be at the back. Rick |
