Installed the Yoshimura Fender Eliminator on 2018 Ninja 400 KRT

<Sorry for the large pics yall, I've resized them, but can't edit my original message. Will try to have the Administrator delete my initial post>

I finally bought my fender eliminator kit! It took me 4hrs spread across 2 days:

- I removed the stock fender and assembled the kit w/the signals last night after work.

SUCCESS! >:-}

(testing my wire connection after cutting/splicing)

-Today, I bought a mini butane torch (had to heat shrink the stock license plate light wires with the Yoshi light wires), wrapped it with electrical tape, ziptied the wires, routed them back inside the trunk and reconnected them into the correct harnesses:

Final Results:
100% STOCK:

BEFORE removing the fender:

FINAL RESULTS:

------------

So far I've completed the following mods myself: ZG windscreen, Puig Green Sport foot pegs, TBR S1R exhaust slip-on, trunk modification, LED Glow lights (green), traction tank pads, and Yoshimura fender eliminator

You did great, it looks real clean. But I do have one question(I use the the same connectors at work). It looks like the connectors were heated up enough to seal the wires, but it doesn't look like you melted the solder ring in the inside that solders the two sets of wires together?

Either way, great write up and nice pics!

Very nice! Save the factory fender in case you ever want to revert.

Bob!!! Thanks for this comment! These connectors came with the kit and the directions mentioned about heating it enough to heat shrink it. It didn't mention about how hot I needed to heat it for the solder ring to melt.

Since you know more about this than I do, I may need to revisit this job.

When I used the torch, the connector melted and I started to get some charring on the colored wire sleeves. At this point, I thought I was heating it too much so I stopped. I waited for it to cool and then tried to pull the wires apart to see if there was any movement and there was none (the instructions indicate to do this). So naturally, never having done this before, I thought that was okay. But if I'm supposed to get that connector hot enough for the solder ring to melt the wires together, I don't believe I actually did this!

I made sure there was enough overlap of the wires inside the connectors...do you think I should unwrap it and try to heat it a bit more until the ring solders the wires together?

THANK YOU!

Nice. I love those low-temp solder heat shrink connectors.

BTW, when adding links from imgur, there are certain letters you can add that will automatically resize the pic...

for example, "h"=huge, "l"=large, "m"=medium, "s"=small. just add it before the file extension. like so:

medium:

Thank you! I've had a lot of practice with this bike lol.

I used to watch my dad fix cars and would be his little helper. I loveddd it...it's partly one reason why I bought my bike because it's easy to work on. But ye, this is the 6th mod I've done on this bike.

I didn't realize how much room I had in the trunk until I was able to reach the harnesses easily.

I previously modified the trunk space by cutting out all of the hard plastic partitions inside (IDK why they thought that would be functional) to increase space for my LED kit wiring (that I installed), my tire puncture kit and tool kit.

This left some sharp edges in there so I custom fit a floor mat to lay on top of the pieces that I couldn't dull or get out.

Can you make the bike into a race bike and do a write up. I would enjoy reading the thread and live through you.

Haha! Thanks for this. But sadly, no...I didn't purchase my bike to take to the track. I don't have the time, or funds to be about "that life" right now.

Also, I don't want to sound like a wimp, but I definitely don't want to potentially crash my bike while on the track (after all of those modifications I'd have to make). If I go down, I'mma cry!!!
