Touchdown Tour makes first stop at Mason Park

Mayor Sylvester Turner helped kick off the city's first Touchdown Tour event Saturday ahead of Super Bowl LI.

The first event was held at Mason Park on the east side.

It featured live music by Zenteno Spirit, food and beverages and all sorts of games for the kids.

Super Bowl mascot "TD" was also on hand, dancing up a storm.

"We're trying to shine a bright light on the city of Houston to the world and say this is a great place to live, work and play," said Ric Campo, of the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee.

With the big day now 120 days away, projects across the city are well underway.

The goal is to make a good impression on football fans, many who might be visiting for the first time.

"Everyone's so excited," said Donajih Robles, who lives on the east side.

The Touchdown Tour will run nearly every weekend through January. All events will be scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
