Texans Training Camp Now Into Second Week

The Houston Texans begin their second week of training Sunday at the Methodist Training Center. Their first preseason game comes in one week when they face the San Francisco 49ers.

The two teams will hold joint practices in advance of the game and the Texans are looking forward to hitting someone other than their own teammates.

"Absolutely, this is always the hardest part- training camp the first two weeks," tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz said.

"You just hit the same guys every day and obviously it's hot. We're going to go out to San Fran in about 75 degrees and we're going to hit some other people," Fiedorowicz added.

Fellow tight end Ryan Griffin echoed Fiedorowicz' sentiments, ""Yeah it's about time we go to San Francisco and start hitting a different color. We're getting tired of Whitney (Mercilus) and (Jadeveon) Clowney. It's time to hit somebody else."

After traveling to California on Thursday, the Texans will practice against the 49ers on Friday, then play their first preseason game on Sunday.

Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said the team stayed on the field a bit longer than expected because there is still work to be done.

"We had to get a lot of things covered," O'Brien said. "We installed two-minute and had a number of different two-minute situations today," O'Brien continued. "We installed some different defenses and some different things on offense, so it just took a little bit longer to get all that done."
