Daily Craig: They did it
Wow, imagine that. The Rockets did it. They finished mediocre and made the playoff. 41-41 was the record and you may notice I didn't make the word playoff plural. One and done. The team they are going to play only won 32 more games than they did and became the first team in league history to win 73. GOLDEN ST. lost just 9 all season. The Rockets had 9 losses by week 3.The ROCKETS were in high cotton last year at this time and only bagged 56 wins. We could go back to my first year covering the team in 1980 when they were 40-42 and made it to the finals against BOSTON. We could but I don't see that being remotely realistic. You RED ROWDIES know I am right.
As for the game they had to win? Sacramento claims to be an NBA team but it's very hard to tell. A few more seasons like this and the league will take the state capitol away from them. On top of the slaughter inflicted on them last night they will have COACH GEORGE KARL fired this afternoon. It is possible Kevin McHale could take his place. Kevin must enjoy post game beer more than semi retired beer.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Beard. He finished the season as one of only 4 in history to ave. 29 pts. 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. He is the only player in the league to average 29-7-6 AND date a Kardashian. Take his stats away and he is one of 17 in the league to date a Kardashian. As usual, his post game interview had all the emotion of a wet towel. It summed up the team's regular season.
