I was there a few years ago and it was in rough condition, large gaps in the asphalt, big dips, etc.

It's the best price around for a track membership. Great people show up there and tons of fast people show up there. The track layout is nice and has interesting turns that you won't find elsewhere in Texas.

The bumps... Uh I mean "character" are more like mx jumps then ripples in the track surface. In my opinion it's the worst track surface I've experienced. That shouldn't stop you from going and trying it out. Go see for yourself and make your own decision. I believe the deal is $150 for an open day but that will go towards your membership if you decide to join. It used to be $500 to join and $150 a month for unlimited riding, not sure if that is still the deal. I also heard they might be redoing the whole track soon but who knows if that will Happen.

Bumps or no, HHR is definitely entertaining on a motard...

Ditto on the bumps... freaking terrible.

Ditto on making your own decision... it was an easy one for me.

Ditto on hearing about resurfacing... been hearing that for years.

Might as well try it out, trying to find somewhere I can ride regularly, just not quite ready to pay the joining fee for MSRH yet.

Hey - I didn't realize you had a motard, Si...

Yep - I took my motard out back in February for some post-rebuild engine testing. We ran CCW, and I thought it was an interesting and challenging layout. Far more elevation change than we see at any of the other Texas tracks, with at least one blind corner entry and exit that I can recall ("Santa Rita" - T4 on the track map).

I'm not sure whether I would have enjoyed being out there on a supersport, but I thought the motard did great.

I've got some leftover TMA@HHR certificates from CMRA last season - I don't know if Craig would let you cash one of my certs in against your TD fee, but you're welcome to try - worst he can do is say 'no'.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Had the KX for a while, had a brainwave and bought a set of warp 9's and changed the gearing. Have not had a chance to ride it anywhere yet, no idea what speed it'll do! May top out at 70 for all I know.
If your interested we could throw yours on my trailer and head out there, who knows may even be able to keep up with yours in a straight line:: notworthy:

I'm pretty sure even with the big bore kit in my CRF, that KX will be more than a match for mine power-wise. These newer MX bikes are pretty stout power-wise...

I'm definitely down for another trip out to HHR, but it would have to be sometime after the CMRA round in April - my motard is currently in pieces getting some suspension and radiator work done and I won't have it back together before then.

All of this motard talk is making me itch to get some warp 9's for my RMZ!

Gents any updates or feedback since last year?

I like the idea of tracking Fridays and Mondays in addition to a relatively consistent moto schedule throughout the year

They've repaved 5 of the worst sections recently. I'm hearing it's much better than it used to be. +1 on that track producing some fast riders.

I'm a member at that track. I'm my personal opinion it is the best bag for your buck that you can find out here in terms of track time. I essentially pay 150 a month for 4 track days a month. We have a track day the first Saturday and the Friday before, and third Sunday of the month. They also run all year round. When other organizations are closed for the off season we are still going. If the weather permits we will ride. The way we run the sessions is a bit different. From 10 to 4 you got a hot track. So if you really wanted to you can ride out there for an hour with out having to pit in. The thing I would like to point out that since it's an open session you've got novice riders who have a couple of track days on their belt all they way up to full on racers shareing the track with each other. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, but I actually hardly see anybody go down there. And that's also including the fact that inside passing is allowed. As for the track it actually had some bad sections Repaved a few weeks ago. I haven't been on it to see how much better it is, but I'll be there next Sunday. You're more than welcome to join in on the fun and I'll bring you as a guest.
