LOL.

Only after we are directly or someone we care about is affected do we begin to care.

Having experienced being hit by a non-insured redneck wannabe hipster teenager, it's not easy to recover your losses.

Now in your buddies situation, getting hit by a beaner that is probably illegal, there's no easy way to say, he's . Probably will need to pay deductible out of pocket and hope his insurance won't drop him.

He said Nike Cortez.

If someone doesn't have insurance there isn't anything you can do. You will never collect a dime from them. Carry uninsured motorist, call the cops, get a report, send to insurance company. No need to stand outside trying to argue with the person. That's what you pay insurance companies to do.

This is true about everything though...
Like me being paralyzed. I had no idea how we were affecting the lives of those until I became the one affected. Same could be said about drug addiction, cancer, etc. the list goes on. It is human nature to only care about what affects you. As much as I wish I could change that, I know I can't.

You ever tried to collect a judgement? It isn't like you walk out of court with a check. Way easier just to get your insurance to pay for it.

Of course it's easier, but I wouldn't give up just because the didn't have insurance. I'd at least sue for my deductible.

Why would his insurance drop him for one accident that wasn't his fault??

Yep. In the end, it's not financially worth it. Now if you want to pursue it because of justice, I understand that.
