UH coach Tom Herman agrees in principle to new contract

University of Houston head football coach Tom Herman has agreed in principle to a new contract, Herman announced at a news conference Monday.

Herman's name has been tied to several current and potential openings across the country after the Cougars' successful season.

The university has stepped up its efforts in the last few weeks to re-do Herman's current UH deal, that includes a pay raise to $3 million.

The contract has yet to be signed.

The Coogs will host the Temple Owls Saturday at 11 a.m. for the American Athletic Conference Championship.
