My son was not even a yr old when I got a call at work from his day care saying that he had a mark on his face from another child sitting on him on accident and that they needed to tell me. Well something just didn't sound right so I went to the center. When I got there my son was crying in the crib and had 16 bite marks on his legs, face, head, arms and hands. The center worker told me that another child (2yr) old climbed into the crib. She admitted that she was in the other room at the time and heard him crying, but thought he had just woke up from a nap and didn't rush in. I saw the child that "climbed" into the crib, no way that happaned. She placed the child in there so that she could leave the room and not have any running around. She told me that this child has a history of bitting. I asked her how she could not notice all the other marks on him and why you would let a child who has a history of bitting around others, esp younger ones. I ended up taking him to the hospital and the police came and took pictures and did an investigation, last I heard they did not find any fault with her! But I will do whatever I have to do in order to keep my kids out of day care from now on.
You can preach till you're blue in the face but if you are lying in the gutter no one's gonna listen. If you pick yourself up by the bootstraps and live your life to the best of your ability you may set an example that others will follow...The power of your example is far greater then what you say!
