Krazy Kris Lillegard on my RZ500 COTA

Kris was nice enough to thrash my bike Saturday. Only 2A but considering it is a 31 year old 500CC two stroke modified as well as I could, it was fun to see. His girlfriend and I managed to get up the tower and spectate until we were told to leave. It goes to show what a talented rider can do against big liter Ducatis and the like. I am sure everyone was surprised as well as the instructors what the bike did without me on it. Wish I could ride it so smoothly. Will post the helmet camera video soon.

I remember seeing it on the track and thinking "is that a 2 stroke?"

Cool and Kris is a of a rider. I have been on the track with him before, its incredible how fast he can go and make it look easy.

That he is and the only one I would trust my RZ with. And it was great that his only suggestion was to give a little steeper steering for quicker turn in.

Deleted the sideways video. Wish I knew how to overlay videos. Only have Windows movie maker and the Go Pro program keeps crashing.

I rode a few sessions. Was not a 100% so did not want to do anything bad. I just wanted kris to show the big liter bikes that it is rider talent not horsepower. I loved the big Ducati trying an outside pass into 16. Kris went race mode after two laps of getting use to bike. He only rode it once 3 years ago.

Pretty awesome, This guy and your RZ was riding around everything on the track. I really liked how late in the straights he could go before braking for a turn w/ that light 2-stroke, compared to all of the other bigger bikes, He gained a lot of ground there. Really makes me miss the old GP 500 races before they changed all the rules and allowed 4 strokes in. Post a pic of your bike, Please, I'd like to see it.

Rz500 is 450 lbs dry aka close to 500 lbs ready to ride, that doesn't come anywhere close to being considered light.

Your right I didn't realize this bike was so porky, Specs show the RZ-RD to weigh in at 438lbs. Dry, Which puts it at about 470lbs. wet. And the RZV at about 419lbs. dry & wet at about 450lbs. Interesting....................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ....................But Who Effin cares? I was just complimenting the Mans bike and the Rider. I liked the videos, Is that OK with you?

With a little further research it would appear that the figures that I have above of 438lbs. dry is only the "84" RD500 which was sold in the states. The best that I can tell The RZ500 of the same year (street legal version) which was not officially sold in the States, Had a dry weight of 419lbs and the exhaust on both RD/RZ was very heavy which I'm sure the OP has changed to after market, And who knows what else has been changed. Oh yea For the record, The race version GP bike was a full Hundred pounds lighter than the street version.

You said he could brake later because of being on a light bike, which he wasn't. He can brake later because he is a much better rider than the typical person that shows up in ridesmart level 2. He can also brake later because he had a lot less hp and wasn't going as fast.
