Astros open homestand with 5-1 win against Tigers

A return to Minute Maid Park proved to be beneficial for the Astros after a 5-1 win Friday against the Detroit Tigers.

Houston tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jose Altuve grounded out to first and scored Marwin Gonzalez.

The Astros took the lead for good on a Jed Lowrie double that scored Jason Castro and Carlos Correa.

Dallas Keuchel improved to 14-6 with the win.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim lost 4-1 to the Royals on Friday meaning Houston increased its lead in the American League West division to 2.5 games.
