Yep.....still unemployed

Well I ended up going down to Baja with a friend who has a place on Sea of Cortez. Along with some fishing we took the bikes down to run around Baja for a little. I had an XR650R and he was on a WR450.

Had a few issues with XR (thanks for the help Chad) so we just went for a short ride when we got there to make sure both bikes were running well enough to head out.

We got up early to give the bikes one last look over before heading south.

We headed towards a few areas that were part of the 1000 race course a few years ago. 40 miles of whoops is about as exciting as it sounds.

We spent our first night in Bahia de Los Angeles in a decent motel for baja standards. Our goal was to then head to the Pacific, attempt to find some gas and then head back over the mountains back to his place on the Gulf of California without getting too lost or run out of fuel.

Made it to the Pacific.

Then into the mountains.

After crossing the mountains and finding our way around a bunch of downed cactus trees we made it back to highway 1, then up to highway 5 back past Cocos corner and on to his place. The route over the mountains was a guess for us. We had a crappy map and there are ton of roads that were not on the map. We knew we had to head east and tried to stay on the trails or roads that looked "traveled". When we came out on highway 1 we weren't exactly sure where we were.

The WR managed to run out of gas right at a military checkpoint, not exactly the place you want to stop 50 yards from and just look stupid while you push your bike towards the guys that speak no English. Dumped a little fuel from the XR tank into the WR and made it the last few miles. We had anticipated about 275 miles and at the end the odometer read 335.

yeah this is the first time I haven't had a job since I was 14. A couple days after I got laid off I did this short trip http://www.motohouston.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=312216

I have about a week long trip end of this month with a buddy who still works for the company that laid me off. They are now forcing furloughs so he's going to take a bike trip with me. Then in July I am probably going to head from Wyoming up towards Banff area then head towards Seattle to visit some friends and my aunt and uncle. Then back across the Cascades through Idaho and home. I think everybody should try to get laid every 5-6 years if your finances allow.
