Android motorcycle app - Need feedback

So, I ride my motorcycle a lot during riding season, and my wife always tells me ( and even some friends ), they do not want to meet me for lunch or , anything really, because they never know if i'm late, or when i'll arrive. As it's not always easy to keep up to date with people while on the bike. I'm notorious for being somewhat late to group gatherings, etc.

I've created an app that lets me input where i'm going, before I go, and assign a contact to update when i start the app ( just before a ride ). Every X minutes ( 5, 10, 15 , or whatever i set it to ), it sends a notice to my wife saying im X minutes from our meeting spot. Well, i've been testing it, and using it and ran into a few " usability " issues. sometimes i don't have a address to enter, and I found it to be quite annoying to have to locate the address every time i want to use my app, so i added the ability to simply start the app, and tell her where im at every X minutes. It will auto text her an update of where i'm at. so if im at highway 59 and kirby, she knows, and can use common sense to determine when ill meet her at say.. fudruckers their off the freeway. While developing it, i made it quite.. messy, as it was just for us, and few close friends.

However, during the usage, I found that it's actually extremely handy, because i can assign multiple numbers to update if i'm meeting multiple people, I've also found that it comes in handy when i'm not on a bike too, but i use it considerably less when i'm in my car.

Anyhoo, my question is, if anyone else would find something like this useful. I'm pondering the idea of building it out for the masses and sticking it in the app store, but i really don't want to waste another 2 - 3 weeks of my life making it consumer ready if no one would even have a use for it.

Mind providing some feedback fellas?

Thanks!

Have you seen the Glimpse app ? iPhones can do that auormatically now to other iPhones. You can share your location from the messaging app. The recipient can swipe on the message and see you current location.

I can't stand people that are always late. It's annoying as and disrespectful. To make matters worse you want someone to follow an app because you have some character flaw that you're not willing to fix? I'm not trying to be an , but come on man....

Glimpse me is nice. I use it on "spirited" rides so the wife can see when I'm headed back.

My mom always used to say, if you're early, you're on time and if you're on time, you're late. Make an app is even more disrespectful than showing up late. You want to know what grinds my gears? Definitely this...

I use life360 app. It works on Android and iOS and is decently accurate. When my family want to see where I am they just pull me up in the app. Not saying your app wouldn't work just that there are others that share already

The idea of it is good, if you happen o be on a solo ride and get in an accident in the middle of no where , this can help track where you are

An app that's more disrespectful than letting my wife know where i'm at if she wants to know? You can leave an hourly early and still show up late. The premises is to allow someone to know where you are, and how far away you are. They don't have to use an app, it sends them the notification via text. I think you and I might have different views on what disrespectful is. character flaws have nothing to do with being late. From time to time it's because i left late as I have two kids, and live in the middle of nowhere. Trying to anticipate how long it'll take me to drive a 1 - 2 hours out to Houston can be tricky. If the app doesn't work for others, then that's great, it was designed for me. No reason to say I have character flaws.

Thanks for the feedback fella's, much appreciated.

I use Life360 so when my gf can't follow her own GPS' directions and calls me for navigation support, I don't have to get her to describe WTF she is

By this ststement, and frankly the only thing we can go on, yes you character is in question. People don't even want the hassle with trying to meet with you because you're so unpredictable. I have kids, three to be exact, one of them is still in diapers and we manage to be on time. Sounds like you have a ton of excuses and not really looking at the real problem. You! An app isn't going to fix that. Are you chronically late to work too? Pesky traffic the problem? The app is disrespectful, because you're asking your friend to buy in to your unpredictable behavior. Look, things happen, and sometimes, with no fault of your own, you get caught up, something happens and you're going to be a couple minutes late. That doesn't need an app. A phone call or text would be more respectful.

I believe OP wanted feedback about the app not about his personal life.

The apps are out there already but they weren't designed for holes that are always late but clearly could be used that way I guess..
