New Rider NW Houston

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and want your thoughts on my bike. I've had it for two years and I'm kinda growing out of it. I'm thinking of moving up to the 1000/1200cc bike range. I've been riding for two years and over that time I've done some mods to my bike. I love my bike but I have my eye on the KTM Duke 1290. Has anyone rode one? If so would you suggest it as a good bike for a guy that's not in his newbie stage anymore? Also if you know anyone interested in my bike Id sell it. In no hurry but I would see it this year.

I've been riding for 30+ years, my 1290 blows my mind. I haven't gotten close to it's
peak hp (9500 rpm) for more than a second or two. I look down at my mph and I think
"wtf are you doing" and then I back out of it. I just broke it in and got the first service done, I'm ready to let it sing the song of its' people...as soon as I get a replacement rear brake fluid cap to replace the one that disappeared.

FWIW, owning a KTM isn't a good idea if you don't have a back up bike.

Cheers, welcome to MH. I'm NW, too.

Thanks. It's a 600. Love to ride it and enjoy that RPM on the open road.

Thanks for the feedback Bryan. Man now I'm thinking of keeping my bike. Lol, but that's a good problem to have.

I started riding on a Ninja 250 and after about 2500 miles I realized I needed to move up. Honestly it was around 500 miles or so when I realized it but I honestly didn't feel a little confidence until I put about 1000 miles on my 600. Since I moved up to the 600cc engine I've gained a little more confidence in my turns and overall riding. I know I'm going to feel that nervousness once I move to a 1290cc but I'll wear my gear and remember what I've learned in my 2 years. In all I'd estimate I've rode about 8,000 miles in two years. I've only been caught in the rain twice luckily but the last time I did I quickly bought some pilot road 3's because of their rain slits. I think I'll feel a little more confident if I get caught in the rain plus I love how smooth my ride is now. I've never had a track day but I've always wanted to check it out. I'm all about baby steps.
