. 17 Year Old Rider Dead

http://montgomerycountypolicereporte...dies-in-crash/

Quote:
Just after 6:30 am, 17-year-old Trenton Fortune was driving his 2008 Yamaha motorcycle west on SH 105. He had passed Walden Road and was approaching Freeport Street when the accident happened. According to DPS, Lori Edwards, 52, of Conroe was eastbound on SH105 in the center turn lane. She turned left across the lanes of SH 105 onto Freeport Street. THe motorcycle slammed into her right front ejecting Fortune.

Fortune was pronounced dead on the scene by Montgomery County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack. Mack ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.

MCHD transported Edwards to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition.

DPS stated the speed on this section of SH 105 is 55. They are continuing their investigation. At this point neither driver appeared impaired.

Giving a 17 year a RR bike is pretty irresponsible.

To be fair, it looks like the crash was the cager's fault, though, right?

Regardless, a horrible tragedy.

Does anyone know the family?

looks like a fz, which wouldn't be a "rr" bike (bars and an 08 w/side mount exhaust).

'neg... but then I try to take all factors into effect...
Big dif in closing speeds between 55mph and 80-95mph.

Just like the 'RR' vs 'FZ' comment...
in the hands of most riders, there's jack squat in effective use/performance.

Posted SL is 55

Odds are the cager saw the bike, misjudged the speed (judging by the damage in excess of 55 but we'll wait for the police report) and pulled out expecting to have plenty of time.

Or she was on a cell phone and not paying attention.
Rider didn't have the skill set to brake or avoid her...

Clear road, nice day, car was hit hard enough to spin it 180 and back across the road into the ditch. Guessing a wee bit more than 55 mph.

RIP.

Streets are scary. Glad I survived when I was that age. I do think the street is too much to handle for a kid that age. Yet, I had a 14 year old put a hurting on me this year at TWS (Texas World Speedway). Little guy was turning 46s.

FZ1 is a big girl, but it still looks like he was going too fast. Regardless I'm glad I didnt ride till 19, and that nearly a decade later I havent been a news story.
