SUPERPRESTIGIO DTX: MotoGP World Champ Marc Marquez Ends 2014 With A Barcelona Flat T
We hope you enjoyed the live stream broadcast of the Superprestigio flat track event right here on MotorcyclistOnline.com. It was a star-studded line-up consisting of no less than 10 World Champions from various motorcycle disciplines around the world including MotoGP . The the competition was split up into the Superprestigio and Open categories as well as featuring talents of the future in the Junior tier. At the end of the night, eight top riders from across Superprestigio and Open went to battle in the 12-lap Superfinal in Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi for the second time this year.
MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez signaling his Moto3 Champion brother Alex to rev it up during Superprestigio pre-race ceremonies.
The live stream started with pre-race ceremonies and intros followed quickly by the first heat. Contact into the first corner saw France’s Thomas Chareyre taken down in a multi-bike collision which also involved Marc Marquez , as FIM CEV Repsol Superbike Champion Kenny Noyes took advantage to take the lead. As the race neared its closing stages, the Barcelona-based American was overhauled by both Marquez and Jared Mees who proceeded to go head-to-head.
Reigning AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Champion Jared Mees dominated both heat races and all three finals to win his Open class.
Mees dominated both heat races and all three finals to win his Open class. But in the Superfinal,*Mees got caught up behind a downed rider in the first corner and nearly stalled his bike while running wide to avoid the crash. He was in the middle of the pack for the first time all night and one spot in back of Marquez.
To the delight of the Catalan crowd, it was Marquez who came out on top around the 200-meter dirt track lap by just 0.298 seconds, with Mees and fellow American Noyes completing the top three. This marked Noyes' second consecutive rostrum result in the event, coming through a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) round just as he had done in the January edition.

"I had an amazing time, it was my first time in Spain," Mees said. "I can't say enough for everybody that invited me, Marc Marquez and everybody that put the event on. It was amazing, I had a lot of fun. ... I hope I can come back next year."
The rest of the top eight was rounded out by Spaniards Gerald Bailo and Dani Ribalta plus Great Britain’s Oliver Brindley and MotoGP’s Bradley Smith (Smith having won two of his earlier heats), while Chareyre recovered to eighth place. Last year’s winner Brad Baker (2013 AMA Grand National winner) was ruled out of action earlier in the day, having dislocated his left shoulder in a practice crash. This was unfortunate since, leading up to the event, he had been the fastest rider in practice.
The event also featured Moto2 and Moto3 title winners Tito Rabat and Alex Marquez, as well as Scott Redding who was making his debut in the Superprestigio.
