MotoGP Valencia test times day two

Poor weather conditions halt most testing programmes

TORRENTIAL rain at Valencia on Tuesday hindered the chance of MotoGP teams continuing testing programmes despite eleven riders braving the conditions.

Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa and Movistar Yamaha MotoGP's Jorge Lorenzo decided not to take the risk along with Monster Yamaha Tech 3's Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith.

It was Italian rider Danilo Petrucci who headed out with his new team Pramac Racing to top the time-sheets for the day with a lap time of 1:42.431.

Already partially behind schedule, Nicky Hayden did not ride his Drive M7 Aspar RC213V-Ride Smart Open bike on Monday and instead braved Tuesday's conditions to finish 24 laps putting him second. Hayden's new team-mate Eugene Laverty also took advantage of the track time despite the poor weather.

Valentino Rossi only completed eight laps while world champion Marc Marquez completed 16 laps albeit not to his usual times.

Marc VDS rider Scott Redding put in 42 laps in the wet on his RC213V factory Honda spec bike.

Cal Crutchlow went out on his CWM LCR Honda, crashed before completing a lap and retired for the day.

Crutchlow wasn't the only rider to crash. Redding came off near the end of the day, as did Petrucci and Loris Baz, all escaping without injury.

Team-mates Alvaro Bautista and Marco Melandri braved the wet track and Bautista completed the highest number of laps of the day, at 49.
