Jose Altuve wins American League batting title

A torrid season has given Astros second baseman Jose Altuve the American League batting title.

A batting average of .341 put Altuve five points ahead of Victor Martinez of the Detroit Tigers.

The Astros fell 8-3 in the season finale, but Altuve had two hits on four at-bats.

Altuve finished the season with 7 home runs, 59 RBIs and 56 stolen bases. In 660 at-bats, he had 225 hits.
