Tire Warranty Question

So I have a tire warranty question. Woke up a couple of days ago to see this huge gash in my tire ( about 1-1.5 inch long, right in the middle of the thread. Trouble is, it's not leaking air, as far as I can tell. I bought a tire warranty when I bought it from Mancuso about 1 year ago, so I called them up. They said (and the warranty said) that if it's not leaking air, they (Zurich, the warranty people) probably wouldn't cover it. They said I could bring it in to have them look at it, and they would call Zurich and see what they say. My question is: What if it were to somehow (wink wink) start leaking air between here and the dealership, once I get it on the trailer. You know, if that gash suddenly gets deeper? Anybody have any experience with this sort of thing?

Pic is in another thread on here somewhere...can't find it now. It's pretty deep, showing cord, though.

why not tell them it has a "slow leak" and you keep having to add air every couple days, or you might as well cut it a little more because i dont think youd want to ride on that tire anymore would you? lol

I'm not certain but I think the way it works is Mancuso has to front the cost of the tire and then after they send it to Zurich and it has been inspected they are then reimbursed. If so I can see them turning you down. I had a buddy who had insurance through them on a diavel and had the worse luck with tires. Had to claim three or so and those tires aren't cheap. Mancuso being a dealership did give him a few head aches here and there but he still got the tires.

Got it fixed

Mancuso replaced the tire after all, under warranty. Cost me $25. Took a while, since they now have to call Zurich (the warranty people) and get their inspector to come look at the tire, and get it approved first. About a week total. Interesting, though, that the tire, a Pilot Road 4, that goes for about $220 online, and $260 at Mancuso, turned into a $330 tire once the insurance approved it. Just interesting.
