Animal sightings:
  • Elk up close and personal over Trail Ridge
  • Female moose and her calf jumped into a dirt trail and trotted 10 yards in front of me for about a minute. This particular trail had me on the monster riding with ATVs.
  • Three types of deer; none that I had to swerve to avoid on the road
  • One doe crossing the road 50 feet in front of me followed by two tiny fawns
  • Beaver
  • Birds of prey
  • Rattlesnake coiled on the road

And....dropped the bike twice on the trail to Engineers Pass. Fully fueled, fully loaded... very heavy. Turned around and road out after that.

What a great trip! I am jealous. Farthest North I ever seem to make it is Taos and Santé Fe.

Nice ride! Weather is near perfect right now, but still some snow at higher elevations. Couple high passes are still closed.

Sweet! I have made almost that exact same drive maybe 50-60 times. We are headed to steamboat in a month as well.

Just need to do it on a bike one day. My side bags should arrive next week I am hoping to take the bike soon

Way cool pics!

Looks like an unbelievable trip.... Wish I had the time to devote to a killer bike or car road trip....

I'm not really into the adventure bike thing but looks like you had it all covered... Got to see a lot of cool stuff for sure.
