♦♦AWESOME MESSAGE THROUGHOUT H-TOWN LAST NIGHT

I went from Galveston to Katy. 45N, downtown, 10 west to Katy.
This was on every single traffic board ! ! ! ! This one was on 10 just inside 610.
I doubt the City of Houston was intentionally thinking that bikers need to be looked for as much as it's just a nice slogan and a good thing to think of once in a while.
In other words it was prolly 95% nice traffic slogan, 5% we really have a heart for bikers.

But in any case, it was out there en' mass and at the very least, I think now it's our turn to make the city and cagers aware that we appreciate the slogan regardless of the full intention, and we believe it prolly WILL save a few lives. I hardly doubt cagers will be measurably different towards bikes, but let's return the though anyway by not pulling in traffic.

All in favor? - pop a wheelie salute to the next cager you meet . . .

Didn't you just say to NOT pull in traffic. Wheelie = Hooligan = bad-image to a cager.

I've been on bikes since I was a little bigger than my Dad's . I never heard of Motorcycle Safety Month.

May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month
Share The Road
All motorists are reminded to safely "share the road" with motorcycles and to be extra alert to help keep motorcyclists safe. Motorcyclists are reminded to make themselves visible to other motorists.

Ride Sober
Statistics show that the percentage of intoxicated motorcycle riders in fatal crashes is greater than the percentage of intoxicated drivers on our roads. This is why NHTSA urges all motorcycle riders to always ride smart and sober.

Thanks for the link Chris........

The city doesn't post on those boards. Those are operated from Transtar by txdot (a state entity). I have pointed them out to a few clueless cagers in recent days on my commute. Happy moto awareness month everyone

At least for people that the thought of a bike never even crosses their texting minds - it's a real big TEXT message that puts a touch of awareness in their car-driving-life.

I didn't read enough - is this a state or national thinga-ma-bob?

I've been in Houston for 10 years. Hmmmmmm..... This is the first time I've seen it. Or maybe I have seen one message, but missed the rest, but now I've seen so many of them that it got me feeling better. I hope it does save a life. It's worth it.
I hope someone doesn't get distracted trying to take a pic of it and then run over a bike . . . .
