I'm not very mechanically inclined. So I would have to pass, I want something that is turn key and not something that will sit in the garage waiting to get worked on.

The KTM 690s get around 50mpg. I don't think you can ever have a motard that is too fast. They all start slowing down around 80mph. Take Adam's for a spin. That thing is nice and you can get a used one for a little cheaper than a new DRZ. Still not as fast as my Husky but that's okay because nothing is.
