Master link that won't snap?

Hey guys,
What's the best kind of master link that won't break?
Last one broke on me and cost me an engine.

You need a rivet type master link. Any good brand will be OK if you install it correctly. Using a clip link is asking for trouble.

My guess is you had one of the clip style ones? Those are junk. Get the rivet type. I use d.i.d. X ring gold chains and rivet master links. Never had any problems.

I have a clip on master link on my drag bike and goes 0-60 in 1 sec. I put silicon on the master link, no problems ever . I run rivet type on S.S. bikes tho

I would guess I've made 500 passes on a clip type 530 master. Not one issue. Not even a sign that the master had moved since it was Siliconed in place

when using a clip style master link make sure you put it on correctly so it wont come off. make sure the open end of the clip is facing the opposite direction of the way the chain rolls

I've seen a couple clip master links fail because of poor installation because the link is not pressed all the way through. This will cause the clip to pop out of the groove or break the clip. Use a link press or some pliers with leverage.
