Ninja 500 over the gs all the way.

Ninja 250 over GS... maybe. For track definitely.

For commute maybe the gs. I just hate air cooled motors.

I had a ninja 500, LOVED it. Still a hoot to ride after all these years. VERY solid bike.... that is, unless you hit a Deer at 70mph.....

Another possible offer, is the Seca II. 600 cc, dirt cheap, bullet proof. I can attest. I have had 4 of them. Quite modable, and a lot of bang for dirt cheap buck. All years offered are basically the same bike. (92-98) but the 96-98 had a makeover.

May not be what you are looking for, but another option.
