http://www.chron.com/news/houston-tr...php?cmpid=hpts

From the Chron:

A motorcyclist died after colliding with a big rig Tuesday morning on U.S. 59 in southwest Houston.

The crash happened about 9:15 a.m. on the inbound Southwest Freeway near Buffalo Speedway, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said the victim is a 35-year-old male who was riding a green Kawasaki. His identity has not been released.

The driver was weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds and struck the left side of the big rig's trailer, according to a statement from HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Officer J. Perrotte.

The crash forced officials to block the northbound lanes of the freeway while crews cleared the scene. The freeway was reopened about noon."

ATGATT can only do so much....

a motorcycle does and speed is relative to traffic flow.

So he could have been going 50 and traffic was doing 30 ... just how it is written could lead one to believe he was doing 100+

Traffic is usually flowing at a good speed right there whether coming off 610 to 59 or just coming down 59. Cars are moving changing lanes like crazy right there with people waiting till the last minute to exit. Its a cluster right there and when riding in its always one place I have to watch the out. You almost have to change lanes like a to survive there cars don't look when they merge there.

edit

He could of easily been doing a 100+ there I know its possible.

Was not sure but know the traffic in that area is pretty thick in the mornings and afternoons. Still sucks no matter what ... 2 wheels always going to loose in a collision with a cage.

Yep, that area is a mess. 610 to 59 north is my exit when I ride and I have to watch for traffic merging on my left and right. Makes for an interesting drive out of the turn.

It is a mess but that one section is always moving pretty good and after most cars sitting in traffic on 610 or further down 59 people tend to speed up a lot right there.
