That discussion is over and now we are talking about double penetration and how to avoid sword to sword combat.

Solracer made a good point of people posting dumb stuff just to get their post count up and dudewheresmybike mentioned something about a time period to wait instead so maybe that would be a better route. That's "if" we can convince them of this rule.

I'm down like a clown.

Most forums I'm associated w have minimum postcount rules for posting in certain sections, let alone in the for sale section...

If people want to sell stuff, they can go to a specific place for that. If they want to be a part of the community, and contribute to it, and from time to time have things to sell, then I welcome them here.

Just scanned the thread and maybe I missed it, but did anyone point out that MH tried the minimum post count to post things in the classifieds before? From what I recall, for sale threads then just became talking about people being below the threshold, or taking about the OP doing exactly what Chris said - posting bs to get that 25 post count to be able to sell.
It's like blue wave said, talking in ridiculous for sale threads is just or fun. Sometimes the mods let it slide, sometimes try crack down. Either way, thems the rules. Caveat empetor, or something like that.

Oh, and has anyone seen the story about the toll free number for obsmacare registration help spelling "800--yo"?( they ran out of numbers for the "u", but still...lol)

Yes. When I created the classifieds rules I added a caveat to go to eBay or the like if that was someone's only intention and if not to post in the intro section introducing themselves. That said, we have weeded out numerous people who were clearly only here to push product but we simply don't want people missing out on potentially good deals by setting up some type of restriction on new members posting items for sale.

At the end of the day who does it hurt when someone joins just to list an item? Nobody, unless someone is stupid enough to pay 3x its value. We encourage everyone to do their homework and don't buy from someone you don't know without using a protected form of payment like PayPal but it is ultimately buyer beware.

Breaking a rule I never would have thought existed...I really never would have imagined that people weren't allowed to comment on the for sale price of a seller, especially when what he was offering was so insulting! The mods of MH should have felt insulted too, this guy thinks we're a bunch of dumb that don't know bikes. So, people did get in to alert the guy, though in various manners. I was obnoxious when I posted since Rod was already banned so now I was insulted and .

And so, we simply should be allowed to comment without banning as long as we're not slandering his bike (ex: "I think I saw it leaking oil"). Let them put their post up no matter how long they have been a member.

But geez, I already have to watch what I say at my work and other situations enough without doing it here too. And yes, I know we could start a new forum but why do that when there are already other great forums in existence like HPC and WFO.

Anyway, what else is in our "terms & conditions"?

Great, so if you don't like things here why don't you just frequent there? All forums have different rules. All forums are great in their own ways. Seems MH isn't good enough for you.

Sorry you took it that way, I said "other great" NOT "other better". Obviously I have enjoyed MH and hope to continue to. Hence the reason I went to the last meet this past Wednesday. But I did not wear the MH shirt because I was still WTFing over what happened.

I'd like to change my vote... need minimums some how.

Based on this...
66 posts total, 24 of which are in his for sale thread.... for a car.
First mention of anything bike is 4months of it not selling (Will trade for bike), despite continous bumping of the thread.

Then again, he was a member 2 months before posting the thread.
