My New Cruiser

Just bought me another bike to keep the honda company.. Its a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 800.. Hadnt been started in 2 years.. put new battery in it and it started right up.. Gas had been drained at time of storage, but not run out of carb.. It was popping and backfiring really bad.. so i pulled the carb and cleaned the float chamber and the jets.. now it still pops but not as bad. only at low steady speed. like trying to maintain a speed limit of say 30 mph. Any suggestions.. I put all kinds of in it.. premiun gas, gum out, sea foam, star tron, and stabilizer.. i think i have washed most of the gunk out. ok mechanics.. lets hear from you.. thanks..

yes popping and back firing means it is running lean

bogging means its running rich

You say you already cleaned the carbs? Did you sync them at all? Your gonna have to find out where the air/fuel screw is so you can see where they are....but yea it sounds a lot lean

Geezer! Welcome back! Haven't seen or heard from you in too long.
Yeah, carb is still dirty. Best bet is to take it to a mechanic, carbs are tricky and difficult to get right.lots of little passages and orifices.
If I don't go to the deer lease this weekend maybe I could give it a shot...

Stay in touch would ya?

geezer! Welcome back. Sorry to hear of your health difficulties, but glad to see you tinkering with 2 wheels again.

I don't know much about carbs other than take 'em off, clean up real good and put 'em back the way you found 'em.
