No kidding. I am done with big group rides. Please be safe, and don't forget about KEM, Coach Dave, and all the others that have been seriously hurt, or killed because of trying to be fast.

I don't have a problem with large group rides.
I don't have an issue with playing on the backroad curves.

I just don't think posting public out rides ever will be a good thing.

Precisely, now...how does a 'new' rider much less any rider 'know their skill level'. I reckon, Bevo has a good idea of his 'skill' level for example...

For a new rider, there is no chance that they have any idea of what their "level" may be.

At some point, you should know what you are capable of doing so far as comfort level with lean angles, tire slippage, brake application; not to mention how far down the road your vision can process.

Track days go a long way in teaching what you and your bike is capable of.

Trying to learn and practice those limits on public roads is a bad idea.

Some people never get to that point, even after years of riding. Some do.

The "trick" is knowing when and where to apply that knowledge, and how far into your own bag of tricks or toolbox are you willing to reach.

In Bevo's particular case who knows? Apparently the front tire was the same age as the rider and lost grip.

I really wish the "Live to Ride, Ride to Die" website was still active.

Anyone remember that?

Since MY hands were on the grips and I was the lead rider, I'm ultimately responsible, however, had I replaced that BT-015 front with a new BT-016 my bike and I would still be pretty.

if i were to want to "play" on the street, the playing would happen the second time thru that day...the first time would be a sighting run.

My old room-mate showed me the site when I first started riding sportbikes, and it definitely made an impression. I contribute at least a bit of it to why I never did anything stupid on street, always had those images in the back of my mind.

Just because you are one of those "street heroes" doesn't make you exempt.
That road you thought you "knew" so well can be very different from the last time you were on it.
pretty much sums it up. One lucky dude he didn't slam into a fence pole or that the wire didn't take his head off.

Ride like you want to live to ride tomorrow people.

Here's another lucky rider wreck....

Overall scene, where the bike/rider came from from...

Where they went...

The rider stopped where the person is standing in the ditch.

Rider was thrown/bailed from the bike way before impact.

Hint of where the impact happened...

Can't be any more happy that the bike and rider didn't trade places.
