just busted some punks in my backyard

Was sound asleep and the dog woke me up. I hear rustling in the backyard so I hush the dog, peek out the back window, and see two dudes. I grabbed the shotgun and put a leash on the american bulldog and welcomed my two visitors with my impromptu welcoming comitee, me, my gun and my dog.
They about their pants, I told them to lie down on the ground and that the cops were on their way. (they wern't) It turns out that they were friends of some new neigbors and had seen some , and I mean , in my backyard that they wanted. Items that they tried to take included a nasty cooler, a half broken ladder, and a large sheet of glass.(I had a outside glass table with plants on it, they threw the plants on the ground). These items were in front of my house, next to their newish 4-runner for loading.
I talked to them for a bit, told them that they were real lucky i didn't shoot or let the dog on em (I have done so before ) but that they were definately going to be arrested. They were still laying on the ground, were asking me to let em go, so I asked em what is was worth to them. Long story short I let em go! F$#ing stupid punks.
Tomorrow comes the reaming of the neighbors and the express intructions to not have these clowns come by again.
What I did not understand is that they obviously had some money (nicer car than my own) but they were trying to take garbage! And allmost died for it.

Thanks motohouston, I ain't got noone else to listen to me at this time!

I hate thieves and tresspassers.
My neighborhood has allways been bad about it, but we have gotten rid of most of the crackheads. Last thing I expected was to have to keep fratboy types out of my backyard. Dumbasses!
Something tells me they wont come around anymore!

unfortunately, I live just outside of downtown. Even though name that caliber used to be a popular game at night when the neighborhood was a bit rougher, I do not want to fire a gun unless it is at someone.
The dog has proven to be very effective, as does the pumping sound on the shottie.

They'll just wait until they are sure you aren't at home and come back and get the stuff.

Time to move to a different part of town...
