It's a possibility the minivan thought you were being obnoxious when you revved your engine and cut you off for that

Distance = time.

The more space you leave between yourself & cars you can reasonably anticipate doing something dangerous to you, the more time you'll have to react.

I envision a bubble around cars - a cushion of extra space around them I don't enter if possible. This can lead me to weave slowly back & forth in my lane as I move past other cars on either side; so be it. That improves my visibility as well.

Nobody likes people who are constantly yelling into their cell phones, right? It doesn't breed good will. IMO, relying on loud pipes has the same problem. I'd prefer to be visually loud (high viz jacket), and rely on my Stebel Nautilus horn for when I NEED to be auditorially loud.
