I've been running Motul 5100...I buy it by the gallon from Tony @ HoPD and Purolator filters from Advanced Auto Parts...

Every 3,000-3,500 miles

It smells AMAZING. Bike seems to like it, so I'm sticking with it.

This is, a thin layer of lubricant rides between the mating bearing surfaces, preventing contact. The heat generated in the bearings is actually due to shearing of this lubricant, not from contact friction.

EP additive is actually not always a good thing. It is actually minimized in motorcycle engine oils because of the wet clutch. You want the clutch plate surfaces to grab, not slip.

If you read online, there are more BS about oils than there are facts. Take everything you read with a grain of salt... or a drop of oil.
Couldn't have said any better.

So what I learned in this thread, and many other "OIL" threads...(Which are banned on motorcycle forums)....use OIL in your engine.

Could just use the BMW full synth. It is just a little more expensive than amsoil but if you can afford the s1000rr can afford the oem product.

Hahahaha the bike came with bmw oil, didnt like it so switched to castrol, which is the recommended oil from the manual, didnt like it either, then switched to Mobil 1, so far the bike seems to run smoother, to me it has nothing to do with what i can afford, it has more to do with what will make my bike run better.

When it comes to motorcycle, i will buy from bmw..... But when it comes to oil i will stick with a company that is dedicated to making oil rather than from a motorcycle manufacturer.
