Not theoretically, I did! Had an cager on Memorial Drive pass me IN MY LANE when I was riding close to the right side. Scared the out of me. I mean. I'm all for lane sharing, but only when it's initiated by the rider with everything to lose. Another blue hair turned left and then stopped when she noticed me. Locked up the back & fishtailed down to ~5 mph before hitting her bumper.

Two stroke - ring ding ding ding!!!

05 Harley Road King

Started riding when I was 23, at the time I was into cars, autoX and track events at TWS (Texas World Speedway). Helped a friend install pipes on his Honda Shadow and fell in love with an uncorked v-twin.

Family friend had a 91 Suzuki VX800 tucked away in the garage that needed the forks and carbs rebuilt so while I was working on the bike I took the MSF and got to riding. I thought I was going to end up on a cruiser but that changed quickly. Still wouldn't mind a Harley Roadking in the garage, though.

12ish, with a mini bike form pep-boys that shook it self apart. I remember riding for hours around my neighbor hood and the surrounding area when there was barely anything out here. Kept saving up til i was 21 to finally get the bike i have now.

96 ZX-11 - Blown up (Should have done the oil mod)
95 GSXR 750 - long gone
92 VFR 750 - Wrecked by "good friend"

Started at 16 on my dad's cb500 ( I think it was a 74). Bought my first bike with my own money (cause mom wasn't buying me one) at 18 GS425E (early 80's but don't know the exact year). That bike would not die so I rode it for a few years and then jumped to an 81 Kaw LTD 1000 with drag bars. Big learning curve going from a 425 to 1000 but somehow I survived.

My first bike was an 1980 Yamaha XS850 triple. I was 20. The very first ride was coming home from the dealership and it was raining.
The salesman, who I'm still friends with, asked if I didn't want to come pick it up the next day.
I told him, "I dont care if I have to swim, towing the bike with a rope in my teeth, I'm takin it home today".

I'm 55 now and as far as looking down on younger riders...
Yes, I look down on everyone, especially young people. I hate you all. I hate you for your youth, your energy, your stamina and most of all I hate how I wasted mine.

Seriously I don't look down on younger riders and try to help them whenever I can, but I was trying to be cool.

2003 CBR 600 F4i -- Sold

Member Garage

i got a bike when I was 31, it was wrecked and I just put it in the garage. I fixed it and started riding when i was 33. still the only bike i own, an 03 cbr 600 f4i.

My dad had a 76 triumph bonneville 750 when i was a kid and i was positive he was going to keep it and give it to me when I was old enough to ride. My (step)mom convinced him to sell it long before then. I always wanted to ride. In 1993 my friend got a suzuki gs500 and he took a day and got me up and driving around well enough he thought I could pass the license test, but I didn't take it.

I don't ride as much as I want, I have toddler now, and a wife that works full time. I wish I could go back to the first year I rode, within 3 months of getting legal and riding on the street I was hitting the forest, and a month later riding 3090. I did that at least 2 times a week for the next 8 or 9 months. I think I may have been a better rider then than I am now.

Bought my first street bike in 1978, it was a Honda cb550. It was either a 1972 or '74 and pd $600.00 for it. Was living in Southern Cali at the time, so needless to say i had a lot of fun on that bike. Grew up working on small engines, in my dads shop, so I was building repairing and riding mini bikes, go carts, 3 wheelers actually anything i could get my hands on for many years prior to that.

Street? 15.
I'm 50 now, still ride regularly, actually been more in the last year.
I don't look down on anyone, and while I don't know everything I'm always willing to give advice if asked.
That said, I seem to have increasingly less tolerant for the guy who's been riding a less than year and has done 2-3 track days and is now the "expert".
