Well, as luck will have it there was a wreck on the north belt east bound today and I had to filter for a few miles.

I'm running front go pro on the windshield and a rear facing gopro on the rear behind the seat.

One guy honked at me, and one car got all the way on the line to block me bot otherwise no prob.

More people gave me room (that I didn't need) than gave me .

video pending.

I dont split while traffic is flowing. only when it is miles of parking lot. I am not going to sit there and listen to my fan go on and off putting 10 feet every 10 seconds. I go as slow and quietly as possible just to try and show respect.

You should of thread split. You could of been through it in 2 minutes, and safer.

Splitting is second nature to me having rode in CA for 20 years and in Asia for 4 years. I read through a few of the negative posts before stopping, same old tired arguments kinda like the gun control advocates. Once it becomes legal then you are free to not participate. Everybody is free to give their personal opinion and preference but don't try offer opinion as fact or make splitting out as dangerous and should stay illegal.

I would like even one single anti lane splitter to step forward and tell me they have never exceeded the speed limit, never rolled through a stop sign, never have rode .08 BAC or higher, never have turned left on red after signal didn't change for their bike, etc.

All above as dangerous if not more than splitting and illegal the same.

How do you think we got the 55mph speed limit lifted?

Mass disobedience tends to make it clear that the law is a bad one.

Honestly, most people are just nervous because from their pov you're practically touching them so they move away.

I used to get honks all the time, but I wasn't in the HOV.

Not exactly how I remembered it. National 55mph was in response to the oil crisis. Once that was long gone, there was little reason for it.

I remember riding/driving between Buffalo and NYC in the late '80s, when 55 was still in full swing. Took full 8hrs to go some 425 miles.

Guilty on all counts... except the BAC bit. I'm not anti-lane-splitting, either. I simply choose not to.

I was not in the HOV.

I was on the north beltway 8 around 59.

Fell asleep with video loading...the rear is almost junk, to bouncy.

Just like anything on a bike, some will take it too far and some will be responsible. I was against this at first till I really thought about it, it is still not legal so at this point I will not. But if and when it is legal I can see myself doing it but not in every circumstance.

And if it is so hot that the best gear and drinking plenty of water won't keep you from getting heat stroke, may be it's time to park the bike and take the car.

Not knocking lane-splitting here, or doing what we all need to do to keep cool while riding, but if the situation is that critical, I'd rather go ride another time.
Not trying to get into a match with you but rider overheating takes precedence over bike overheating. Not the same AT ALL! Bike overheats, pull over and shut her down. Rider overheats, pull over to throw up and pass out.

Nothing will stop heat stroke when you're parked (bike shut off since nobody is actually moving) on 45 traffic behind an accident. Not all situations are known prior to turning the key in the morning.

All I'm saying is filtering CAN BE the safest route. Usually not but sometimes it is. Play the cards you're dealt.

You may have never had a heat stroke before, and if you are lucky enough to recognize the symptoms there is no choice to me.

I have had two, they are a medical ****ing emergancy.

You have to remove the heat.
