Title lein question??

This guy that paints cars bikes whatever just told me he had a customer take in a 04 hayabusa well apparently he didn't pay for the paint job and now the guy is selling it. I don't know the v.I.n at the moment but he's going to send me the info manana. Is that something I should get involved in or stay away from it...

The mechanic puts a lien on the bike, gets the title from the DMV, registers it in his name then sells it to you. Thats the only legal way to do it. Unless the original owner gave the guy the title with the bike, which i doubt, under no circumstances should you accept a title that has the original owners name on it, with a lien from the mechanic and his signature signing the title over to you. That will create a big head ache at the DMV

There are more ways for that to turn out badly than the other way around.

Mechanic's lien laws have changed. He doesn't dot an i & You get stripped of the bike with no compensation. Previous owner also has the right to sue you both if he feels the lien was not legit.
