msrh 8.4. crash thread

so at msrh sat. i went down halfway through the last session in level 2. as far as i can tell i was doing the same as all day( speed wise) and i thought i was still on the race line but newrider says i was a little outside so im guessing that had a good part to do with it. i was going around the carousel and about half to 3/4 of the way around i low sided. kicked the bike away once i realized there was no saving it and slid for a while. after about 20 feet of sliding on my back i finally cought and started to flip. in my head i felt like i stopped when i saw the ground and put my hands down( knew as soon as i did it it was not the right thing to do. lol) so i flipped a couple of times and landed in the grass a few feet from the bike. over all i was extremely lucky for the speed i was going( assuming around 80-90. not 100% sure) and not getting seriously injured. just a swolen left hand and pretty sore the next day... for the bike i got off pretty good also. FRAME SLIDERS FOR THE WIN!!! lol. seft rearset bent to , broke wind screen and front plastic, twisted left clip on, banged up tail... other than that pretty good. already have new rearsets on order so i can get back out there... HUGE thanks to rykoson for helping move my bike as soon as i went down and new rider, byrdman, and the other guy i pitted with(sorry cant remember you name bro.lol) for helping go get my bike off the track after the day was over since they didnt tow it back in for me. but its all good. happens and all is good.
sorry no vid. newrider isnt the best camera man!

o and does anyone know if i can ride with my front fairing broken like it is with new windscreen???

NP man... what tires do you have might I ask...street tires get greasy towards the end of the day and the track was getting slick.. Also you probly tried to add throttle while adding lean angle to get back on the line when you went wide. very common.

Also you should be good to go once you zip tie your farrings if loose, and get those new rear sets and clip-ons. Some people don't evan have a wind screen. Not bad at all man!! Heal up and see you soon!

ok makes sense..my tires were slipping around..I had q2s on too...Adam and Ivan had slicks on.. those were about 1:50 min laps towards the end of the day not sure exactly. Maybe time for an upgrade.

Also you can never add throttle and lean angle at the same time if your already nearing the apex...only after you apex then start to stand the bike up can you roll on it coming out.

Buy another set of wheels.

Crashing sucks. Glad you are okay. The carousel got me back in 08.

Dude. I totally forgot that you rode, and didn't even know you rode track. Very cool. It's Gary, from all Heath and John's apartment parties

First, tires don't get "greasy".

Second, not recommended to mix match tires like that, but this wasn't the cause of your get-off. You probably just made some little adjustment while leaned over, unsettled your suspension, sending you to the ground. Without seeing your tires, I couldn't tell you if they were done for and that might've been your reason.

It won't hurt to upgrade to a better street/track tire front & rear. Pirelli makes a great tire for this, along with Q2s, as well as a B'stone. All good tires, just go with what you know you'll trust. No need for a slick, unless you have dedicated track wheels (spare wheels), or dedicated track bike. I roll on Pirelli DOT race tires for what little street time my bike sees, which is an option too. Just remember it takes time to get these up to ideal operating temperature, on street or track.

This is what I'm taking about. What does your front look like? Back sounds just fine. And typical low-sides are from the front giving out in some form.

I was wondering what happened when the crash truck and EMS went right past me when I crashed. Luckily, they went to someone who needed their attention much more than me! Any news on the life-flighted rider?

you guys are doing 80-90 mph in the carousel? We can manage maybe half that speed in the carousel on 4 wheels and Hoosiers

Edit: I just realized you're talking MSRH and not TWS (Texas World Speedway). Doh!
