I have two X-11s. I wear a Vermuelen now but I just had to get a Kiyonari for a spare before the closeout stock runs out. It's a great lid and flows a lot of air, but quiet it is not. X-11 and RF-1000 belong to the previous generation of Shoei helmets and use the same shield. X-11 has removable liner, RF-1000 does not. I orginally ordered an RF-1000 and decided to return it because of the non-removable liner. I don't know if the RF is any noisier.

RF-1100 and X-12 are the newest generation. X-series are supposedly "racing" helmets and RF-series the general purpose line one-rung below the X. I'm sure Shoei has improved both lids, relative to their respective predecessor.

My sense of having worn the X-11 for the last yr is that it likes to be worn by a rider in the prone (leaned forward) position, like on a sportbike. I notice it flows better air and doesn't howl quite as loud when I am on my priller, vs. on the C14 or the S83cruiser.
