I don't believe in having special, protected classes and have no desire to be in one. It shouldn't matter if the injured person is a pedestrian, bicyclist, motorcyclist, car or truck driver. If someone causes an accident as a result of their participation in some stupid activity, there should be a much higher penalty than a non-stupidity induced accident.

If someone leaves flees an accident, it should be considered an automatic admission of culpability with full financial responsibility even it it requires forfeiture of all their assets (home, retirement, future earnings, etc), plus mandatory jail time and permanent loss of driving privileges. Something needs to be done to curtail the number of hit and run crimes.

Actually, if you have a CDL license, ANY accidents, tickets and such is on your resume. few will hire and you only have so many points till you have it suspended or revoked even. it's sorta the same for a class C license but on a more lenient level. A heavier penalty would be nice but it's not going to happen. Although the hands free while operating a moving vehicle WOULD be great to lessen dumbasses.
