Big Bore my DRZ or get a 450?

So I'm in a quest for more powa!!! I love my Dizzer. To me it's almost sorted out to how I like it. I just need to get the rear suspension race tech'd and be done with it.
Well after getting spanked at GSS I want more power. I want to get a BB kit and hot cams <$1k or should I just got ahead and get a 450? I want it streetable for hooligan rides in town so probably a WR450 or 450X. Only issue I would have to start all over. What should I do?
Will a BB kit make that much of a difference?
Should I just suck it up?
I can't have another bike in the stable so the DRZ would have to go first....

What would u do?

What and who did you get spanked by? Are you sure your riding the DZR to 100% of its potential or are you trying to handicap skill with power?

The DRZ is fine and you're riding it very well.

You didn't get spanked. Two people were clearly faster than you. George and Hi-Side. Tell you what. I'm thinking George/Hi-side got in your head. Let me let you in on a secret...they both are fast, probably on any bike.

Take my CRF450 out next go around. It ain't exactly stock. See how you do, if you are faster, get rid of the DRZ. I really think your DRZ is near perfect for the balance between street and track riding. Take it from someone that has owned a lot of motards. The 450's are fast, at a cost.

I meant that in a positive, non-argumentative manner by the way.

There is not a single person on the site who can ride any bike 100%. There is always something to learn, room to get faster but when I'm running up on someone in a turn, get on the gas the same time as the other persOn and they just walk away from me it's defiantly a disadvantage I want to eliminate. watch some of my Motard track videos u can clearly see it....

Yea I know they are better skilled than I, most of you guys are and I'm ok with that. What u said is exactly right about my Dizzer. I love the booger but just wish I had more exit speed. I'm sure I can come into the corner faster but when I get on the gas it isn't exactly on "tap" like the 450s. That's y I want to BB it since I can do almost anything on that bike but would it be worth the money?
I can take criticism very well, after all I am a weather man

I've bored out a few DRZ's. It gives a nice increase in power, particulalry mid range.
The DRZ is still heaveir/has a bit less power than the CRF450 but if you've got it mostly sorted out and are happy why start over?

625smc

Has better stock components and come with more power that a bored drz. And you won't be $7k in a bike that's only worth $4500. That's why I switched. Didn't make sense down the road.

What's the weight difference? I looked at a 625smc back in 07 and couldn't see spending that much for a "dirtbike" but then priced them and called the seller back but it was sold.

I've liked them since but don't have room for one.

Byrdman, I'd love the power of one of the 450s but you're gonna have way more maintenance on something like a 450x and I hear they have some valve issues that need to be sorted out.

Ive already got the brakes pretty much sorted(if that is what u mean about components), I have a brembo MC on it now and a brembo caliper and bracket not yet installed. I wonder how much power the 625 puts out over the Dizzer....parts availability is what shuns me away from KTM.

You may want to rethink your lines and get better setup coming out of the corner so you can get on the gas sooner than the person you are trying to pass. That "slow" bike will make you fast..

Big bore sounds like a good Idea but the next bike I want to get as a tard is the xr650R.

My lines aren't the best but I have adjusted and passed ppl in the turn only to be out powered after the turn and be right at some bodies back tire and not have enough humph too make the pass...

Maybe a 15 shot of nitrous would work

I have both a YZ 450 and the DRZ. I would get rid of the 450 before the DRZ. Just my opinion. I still want to BB kit the DRZ for a little more power but it is WAY more comfortable than the YZ and take more of a beating You have seen my DRZ, seen me lay it down a few times too. lol If I ever get the YZ fixed up it is stock and I will bring it to GSS and let you ride it to compare. It has been down a few times also Its a motard its not like you are going to hurt it. And heck I took the DRZ to Barber one year and was smoking SS bikes. They may not have been the fastest riders but neither am I and it was a blast them off. haha

You can sell it, get a 450, you don't know when it may pop, probably have to sort out the suspension and maybe the brakes, might need plated, and months later you'll be back in business. Or you can just take the dizzer and your checkbook somewhere and be back in business in a week with a badass reliable tard that can hang with 450s and goes over 100 miles between fillups. Just throw $2K at it. It'll cost you that much to rebuild a 450 after you pop it on the track anyways.
