Vulcan 1500

Mmmm, vibrates the mess out of your feet at 65-70. Otherwise, very comfortable, very dependable, great on gas (I think I got about 45 mpg or so, riding it as hard as it would let me). Ultra cheap on insurance. I was extra rough on mine and the over 30,000 miles I put on it, and I enjoyed it all.

Total departure from sport bikes? Absolutely. lol

I'm trying to go in the OTHER direction.

I had an 07 shadow aero. I loved it. Wouldn't mind owning another for commuting. Very low maintenance, good gas mileage, plenty of power.

Displacement? All in all they're not bad... I use an old 600 as a backup.

I've put some miles on an 1100 I really like it. It has plenty of behind it and really comfy.

Harley FXDC
420 Honda Rancher ATV

I had a 2007 Shadow Sabre 1100, Great Bike
it's to be geared a little sportier than the shadow sprint,
No problems with the bike pulled good to 105 with me a 260 Lb guy nothing much left after that. Can lean it a good bit before you drag the pegs
Front Brakes could be better but not bad, I put on after market EBC when the stock wore out at about 15K miles? the EBC worked fine.
Maintenance free as you can get , shaft drive and no valve adjusments on the 1100.
07 was last of the carbed, and of the 1100CC
Was hard to part with but the Harley bug bit me so I traded it in.

Good Luck

2004 Honda Aero(sold)

Had an 04 Aero for about a year. Got on a Roadstar at the dealership while getting an oil change and traded in the Shadow on the spot. I would advise getting something with a displacement of at least 1300 so that you don't miss the power too much. Just my $.02.

My brother has a Shadow, 1100 or 1200 - I can't remember. I've ridden it around the Austin park and lake roads and it was very nice. Comfortable, power seemed like it was enough. It made me consider getting a cruiser for when I'm in the mood to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

2006 VStar 1100
2008 Honda Rebel

Some will say that is an under powered "girly" bike, but I like sportsters. I almost got one before I bought my Vstar. There's a lot you can do to them. My first suggestion would be to save for the 1200 kit. Congrats in the new bike.

I had a shadow Ace 750, really comfortable and low maint. but wanted more power. Was looking for a VTX but picked up a 1200 Sportster for a decent price. really enjoy the sportster, but still keep looking at VTXs wondering What if...
